Crime and Punishment
An adaptation into object theatre and songs of the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Files & Professional Space
It is the story of Raskolnikov, a rebellious young man, crushed by destitution. He fights against injustice, poverty, and the few opportunities the world offers him. Therefore, to achieve his freedom beyond morality and with little regard for the law, he steals from and kills an old woman usurer. After all, the world would be better off without her, and the loot could be redistributed. The terrible punishment he subjects himself to is immediate: tormented by the barbarity of his act, he night and day fluctuates between nightmare and insanity. A conceited young man lacking morality? An inept Robin Hood? A seductive scumbag? Or a simple product of society? In the courtroom, opinions differ. This performance will be the anatomy of a crime, from its being imagined to its confession. It will be performed at a breathless pace, between action and reflection, punctuated with humour and songs.
