Synopsis en néerlandais
Onder een zinderende Sevillaanse zon ontmoeten een man en een vrouw elkaar. Een tragisch liefdesverhaal in een prachtig decor. Een prachtig liefdesverhaal in een tragisch decor. Een kroniek van roekeloze verliefdheid, sensuele aanrakingen en verkeerd begrepen woorden, vol tederheid, verraad, schoonheid en wraak.
In 2019 bekoorde de gelauwerde Compagnie Karyatides onze jonge operafans met hun voorstelling (Victor) Frankenstein. Drie seizoenen later verwelkomen we ze opnieuw in de Munt met hun herwerking van Carmen: een unieke mengvorm tussen objecttheater en concert, naar de opera van Bizet en de novelle van Prosper Mérimée. Een ideale introductie tot de wereld van de opera voor iedereen ouder dan 9 jaar, speciaal voor de Munt ook met een Nederlandstalige verteller.

眩しいセビリアの太陽の元で起こる、主人公の女性が死んでしまう悲劇の、そして壮大な音楽の物語。

私たちは、観客に、大きな意味を持つ古典作品とその典型的な登場人物に出会ってもらい、一見それらオブジェの平凡な容貌からは程遠い意味を体験してもらうのです。
私たちは観客に、巨大神話を発見、再発見してもらい、古典に新たな命を吹き込みたいのです。いや、新たな命というより、むしろ、新たな「タイムレス」さを与え、過去に戻って将来を考える、つまりは、私たちの「今」と向き合いたいと考えるのです。「酸い」（少し辛辣なもの）をエッチングに使うような・・・

The atmosphere, the sensuality, the means of telling, the handling artistry as well as the actress’ acting style immediately immerses us in the warm air of Seville and at the heart of Prosper Mérimée’s plot
She reads the cards like an authentic gypsy, transforms the bullring of sand into a lush, green field with a wipe of a sponge and has a nightclub spring into existence with a mirror ball
To see the figurines perform on the country’s sand, its desert, the bullring or the greenery of the countryside is fascinating
The spectator also finds themselves, as these fragile moments occur, hanging onto the strange materiality of the narration, which thereby disperses slowly ticks by, switching between tragedy and comical moments constantly
